recent study from the University of British Columbia finds that while most men can regulate their physical and mental sexual arousal to some degree, the men most able to do so are able to control their other emotions as well.

[ but sex and emotion are disconnected in men, right? interesting how many of the common views about men are convenient - if sex and emotion in men are decoupled, then women need not attend to their own emotional baggage - just make their bodies available and check out emotionally/spiritually - self-confrontation is avoided. ]

Rocket propellant has barely changed in the more than 50 years since the launch of the first artificial satellite Sputnik. But a new mixture of nano-aluminum powder and frozen water could make rocket launches more environmentally friendly, and even allow spacecraft to refuel at distant locations such as the moon or Mars.

randian chef? Ducasse is not only interested in his guests' satisfaction. - "Every day, my objective is to take a pleasure, my pleasure," he said. "I'm very, very, uh, egoist to finish. That's my pleasure first - first as a cook is personal pleasure, before the pleasure of a guest. That's clear."

Obama/Baucus-care meets its test of 10-year budget neutrality by increasing the Social Security surplus and then spending it all on the health care plan - leaving the government that much more in debt for entitlements. Ah, but the increased debt for entitlements is "off budget" - so it doesn't count in their 10-year budget calculation.

Victor Davis Hanson: The Kitty-Cat Who Roared - President Obama keeps roaring out deadlines like a lion - only later to meow like a little kitty. - Remember, for example, how he bellowed to cheering partisan crowds that he would close down the detainment facility at Guantanamo within a year? - The clock ticks -- and Guantanamo isn’t close to being shut down. It once was easy for candidate Obama to deplore George W. Bush’s supposed gulag. Now it proves harder to decide between the bad choice of detaining non-uniformed terrorist combatants and the worse ones of letting them go, giving them civilian trials, or deporting them to unwilling hosts. - Going back further to September 2007, candidate Obama postured about Iraq that he wanted “to immediately begin to remove our combat troops. Not in six months or one year -- now!” - That “now!” sure sounded macho.

orgnic farming inreases hard labor for low pay: Farming has always been messy and painful, and bloody and dirty. It still is. This is something the critics of industrial farming never seem to understand.
